MISSION TEAM UPDATE ? 14 persons from Grace will be traveling to Stumpy Point, North Carolina to assist in rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Irene in August of 2011. Stumpy Point is an old fishing village on the coast and homes that were not built (lately) on stilts got several feet of water in them and roofs took a hit as well with the incessant winds from the hurricane. Our main task is to build a new home for RD Price. RD and his son, Curtis and family, lost their homes to Hurricane Irene. RD is retired, the former fire chief in town, and a widower of 7 years. Our group will be working with Bruce & Laurie Hawley, RCA appointed persons to be on site to assist with and supervise the work. Our partner, UMCOR ? United Methodist Committee on Relief ? is the only long term recovery organization helping out in the coastal counties. We will be leaving Grace around 1 PM Friday, April 19, and arriving in Stumpy Point late Saturday, April 20. After a week of building, we will be returning late Saturday, April 27 to GR.
