SCHULTE - Clyde C. Age 98, of the City of Tonawanda, March 12, 2020. The Lord called and said, Clyde can you come up and fix the Gate? Clyde said sure, it?s a five minute job. With that we lost another of the greatest generation.
Predeceased by the love of his life Anna (nee Kovacs) Schulte and the late Lillian (Vanderheid) Schulte; father of Timothy (Carol) Schulte, Anne Marie (Paul) Holdaway, Mark (Regina) Schulte and Dr. Lizbeth (Jay) Booth; grandfather of 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; son of the late Oscar Sr. and Fannie Schulte; brother of the late Oscar (late Isabel) Schulte; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Clyde was a 1940 graduate of Tonawanda High School and served with the 101st Airborn Division (Screaming Eagles) and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr Schulte entered the US Army on Oct 28th, 1942 and was Honorably Discharged on Jan 15th, 1946 with the rank of Tech 5. Mr. Schulte was assigned to the 101st Airborn Division (Screaming Eagles). He made a Combat Jump in St-Lo and participated this in the Battle of the Bulge. Tech 5 Schulte earned the following: European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, and Parachutists Badge.
He had been employed by the City of Tonawanda School District for more than 30 years.
His family enjoyed many hours of boating and racing on the Niagara River.
A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.

(nee Rockenbrock) (Vanderheid) Schulte, age 91, of the City of Tonawanda, Monday, October 14, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, she was the wife of William J. Vanderheid, who died in 1983; mother of the late Ann and Mark Vanderheid; and sister of the late Carl Rockenbrock and Jane O. Wollaber. Lillian was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, where she was very active in Circle II of the church. She was also a member of Tonawandas' Unit 264 American Legion Auxiliary and was a very proud Gold Star Mother. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Clyde C. Schulte; six children, William (Vera) Vanderheid of Mason, OH, Nancy (Gary) Metzger of Tonawanda, Timothy (Carol) Schulte of Grand Island, Anne (Paul) Holdaway of Rochester, Mark (Gina) Schulte of Tonawanda and Lizbeth (Jay) Booth of Grand Island; five grandchildren, Christine (Christopher), William, Julie, Jenna and Mark; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Madeline; and several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Thursday from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.) in Tonawanda. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 18th at 7:00 PM in First Presbyterian Church, 149 Broad St. in Tonawanda. Friends invited. Flowers gratefully declined.
